My Time with Leif: Day 14

Yay! It’s Friday. I was a little late coming home from work today. I am taking off Monday and Tuesday of next week for the arrival of Gavin and Mary as well as Wednesday in celebration of Mary’s birthday. So everything I had to do for those days, I had to cram into today’s work. Despite that, I decided to make a nice dinner and found a recipe for an awesome orange chicken dinner. If you ask me, it rivals Kin Wah (local chinese restaurant) and maybe even Panda. So yeah, it was good.

Leif and I checked the mail today and we received a box of cat food from Amazon. The cats were happy, but Leif was equally happy and entertained. While I cooked our fine meal, he stomped and popped, very loudly, the packing bubbles. He laughed every time one popped. It kept him entertained for a good 20 minutes.

Leif was happy and ate all his dinner, beans and all. That made me happy. We watched an episode of some cartoon show while we ate. Byt the time we finished dinner, it was already bed time. I did a quick clean up in the kitchen and moved on to our night time routine. It was a quick, but fun day.

My Time with Leif: Day 13

We needed to be out a bit today. After work, we ate a quick bit to eat and headed down to the playground. We went up and down the slide, played ghost chase, laid and looked at the sky, played on the monkey bars, and rolled some coins down the slide. We just plain wore each other out. When we got home we plopped on the couch for a short bit before hitting they hay. It was a nice day just playing and enjoying each other’s company.

My Time with Leif: Day 12

Leif was in a good mood when he woke up. He threatened to attack me so I hit him with pillows. When he got tired of that, he decided it was time to get dressed. And that was something he had to do himself. Although he was very understanding and grateful when I pointed out that his pants were on backwards.

After work, I had an appointment in town. Beth picked Leif up and brought him back to her place to watch him until I was done. Leif didn’t seem to mind. He got to play more with Teddy and see their bunny and enjoy an evening of different toys. I arrived to pick him up at 7:30 after a pretty drive over and was offered me some dinner. I hadn’t eaten yet and Beth’s sister made a delicious pork roast with corn and wild rice. How could I refuse? We stayed for a short bit for dinner and a cupcake. But very quickly it became late. It was kiddos bed time and we were over 30 minutes from home, so we said our thank you’s and goodbyes, and headed home. Buy the time we arrived home, Leif was passed out. I carried him up to bed, skipping the whole night-time routine, and joined him in a peaceful night of sleep.

My Time with Leif: Day 11

Another simple day. Leif went to the aquarium with J while I was at work. He got himself one of those squished pennies with a shark imprinted on it. He told me all about how he turned the big crank and squished the penny. He was very proud of that. As for the rest of the day? We played lazy. We ate us some food, played with toys, tickled each other, ate pudding, brushed our teeth, gave Leif a bath, and put ourselves into bed. Yet another simple day.

My Time with Leif: Day 10

This was King Kamehameha day. A Hawaiian holiday where we get off and the rest of the world has to go to work. So what did we do with our free day? We went to the grocery store, did laundry, and babysat the nephews. Chris and Teddy came over while their mom went off with her sister to go sailing. Well, the sailing was canceled and they came back after an hour, but they then went out to lunch while the kids and I went down to the park. Leif and Teddy played pretty well and were happy, but poor Chris had no one of his own age to play with and he went a little stir crazy. For a bit, they all were a little stir crazy, but eventually they worked it out and figured out how to get along. Which naturally meant that it was time to head back home. Chris sat on the couch trying to figure out how to get me to let him watch tv or play Wii while the other two played happily outside with sticks and bulldozers. The two run-away adults finally returned and scooped their two younguns away. That left just me and Leif again. By this time of course, it was dinner time. We had ourselves some food and began our night-time routine. It didn’t take long before Leif was in bed snoozing away. I did a little exercising and watched an episode of “The United States of Tara” and then joined him. It was a simple day, but nothing says simple days can’t be nice.
