Rambling Man

It has been raining here for way too long, only pausing here and there for an hour or so. It sucks. It makes me feel trapped. I have started going to Volcano Joe’s again. I know it is not Holly’s favorite thing, but she likes it well enough. It’s a night out. She doesn’t get enough of that. The rain has also put a hold on running. Holly has not run that much as far as I know, and I have run even less than that. I want it to stop raining. I have also started a more steady routine of playing music on Friday nights. I take Gavin with me so that Holly and her mom have time together. Mostly for her moms sake than for hers. It gives them a chance to talk story and drink tea. It also gives Gavin a chance to play with other kids. I am glad to be getting back into music more. It has renewed my spirits and inspired me to start writing music. It has also made me long for music school. But I must wait. I have been reading a bit more too. Holly brought me back a book from her library. She says its big with the kids, and I can see why. It’s a very interesting book called “The Golden Compass”. We have applied to a pre-school for Gavin. They wrote us back saying that they received his application, but the school is full and they will call us if there is opening. Otherwise, he has to wait until May or so. That is another 3 months away. A few weeks ago, Holly told me we must make an appointment for Gavin to go to the dentist. He has complained a few times that his teeth hurt and we can see some cavities. So I made the appointment. The downside is that when I called them, they said that Holly and I were due for check-ups too. So I made those appointments as well. Gavin and I had our appointments yesterday at 10am. They first did Gavin. He was very good about it all. They took x-rays of his teeth and mine. Then they checked his mouth all over with a little pointy thing and then brushed them with the electric toothbrush. Gavin got to hold on to “Mr. Thirsty”. Can you guess what that was? Meanwhile, in the room next to his, we listened to a boy not much older than Gavin dying. Or so it seemed. Gavin did not make a peep. Then as a reward he got a balloon and a bouncy ball. And what did I get for being good during my check-up? A 3:30 appointment to get 3 fillings, and two crowns. Sweet! There is nothing like a 3:30 – 6:00 dental marathon to get you ready for Scottish Country Dancing at O’Tooles. Oh well. At least I am poorer now. Wait. I mean, at least my jaw hurts. Damn. Wait, I mean at least I have to go in again in 2 weeks. Damn. Wait. At least I have teeth. Yeah. Something like that. Anyway. It’s about 10 am. Gavin has watched Thomas the Tank Engine. He has had some trail mix and a banana. I ate a bowl of cereal. I need to buy laundry detergent so I can do laundry. Gavin needs to eat a well balanced lunch and take a nap at noon. And it needs to be on time so he doesn’t stay up until 10 pm. I should probably empty the garbages and clean up a bit. If I had the car, I might even get an oil change. I’ll even do a few dishes today. I will not eat chocolate. Ahh yes. Thanks to a friend of mine having a birthday, I received a $50 gift certificate to Gordon Biersch that would have expired on March 16th. Needing to use it before it expired, we decided to go there for Fat Tuesday. It was grand. I had an awesome burger with garlic fries. Mary had half a Ahi sandwich. Holly had the other half. Gavin had jasmine rice and some fries. Mary and I also had a few beers. Oh, and we had fried artichoke hearts for an appetizer. All for the sum of $1.61. Sweet. And there was a big Mardi Gra party going on as well, so drummers, men with wigs and tights, girls in bead bikinis, ladies with crazy hats, and many others were parading around. It was loud and fun. When Gavin asked to go for a walk, Holly took him around to check things out. When they came back they were sporting a bag of meat balls (Malt Balls) and a green bead necklace. Naturally, I had to give Holly a sly look. She just smiled and winked. 😉 Ahh. Good times. Unfortunately, we all over ate. I suppose that is the point. But none-the-less, with not running cause of the stupid rain, not doing sit-ups or push-ups or any other exercise (I will blame this on the rain too), I feel like I’m slipping away into fatness. I said I FEEL like it. I just want to prevent it is all. Ok. Well this is long enough. Maybe if you are good and add comments, I might post some pictures or maybe even some music or something. Later.

A pretty good post?

Ok, so I haven’t blogged in a while. And why not? Because. That is why. Anyway, this promises to be a long post. I suppose there has been a lot. Hmmmm. Now if I could only think of it. He he. It’s been raining here for about 5 1/2 days straight. On the first day, I came down with a cold. Guess what? I still have it. About 20 minutes ago the rain stopped. I’m hoping it is for good. At least for more than a few hours. That way I can ride my motorcycle more often. I gots places to go. Anyway, not that the rain is gone, I’m hoping that my cold with leave with it. I sure hope it does. I don’t really want a cold with this weekend coming up. It is going to be a busy weekend. Tonight, I head to Gabe’s with Gavin to play music and have a good time while Mary takes Yuri to the opera, while Holly gets the night to herself. Tomorrow morning Holly and Mary go off at 6 am to a librarian conference while Gavin and I paint the town. Then later that night Holly and I go to an 80’s themed Birthday party. Sunday morning Mary and I ride off to a RSCDS board meeting for a few hours. Then Sunday afternoon/evening, Holly and I go to the opera for an evening of great music. Then it’s home and into bed so Holly can get up all early like for work. And that is our weekend.

So how about things of the past? I am done with the theatre. And since then, I have been awesome. I had a few shlumpy days here and there, but they were the good kind. Like the kind I had in college. Shlumpy because I needed to be creative. Frustrated because my creativeness was at a minimum. So I whipped out my writing book and guitar and got creative. That fixed that. I get to play music every Friday now. That helps and is completely awesome. I went to Volcano Joe’s with Holly this past Monday. It was a really nice time. The only problem was that I played like crap. Sort of. I played Foo Fighters’ “Everlong”, which I have never tried live, because it is hard for me to sing and play at the same time. But I seemed to do ok. Then next song, I bombed. I played Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”. See, now, the first song requires a drop D tuning. And the second song doesn’t. And when I played the second song, I didn’t switch back. That doesn’t help me sound good. But whatever. I played “Everlong” good, so whatever. I have spent quite a few nights out with Holly and it’s wonderful. On Wednesday, when we were supposed to go to dancing, we took the night off and went to go see “Nanny McPhee”. We have been out shopping and out eating and what not. Holly has been running and has gotten back on the waggon. Back in control. As am I. I feel good. Should I blame the theatre? Nah. I let many things get to me. Now I have rid myself of them. And if not, I have at least made peace with them and learned how to deal with them. So now here I am feeling good. And can you blame me. Holly and I stopped at the bank to open a savings account. We are officially saving up to buy a house. We already have some money saved. Houses are dropping in price. We will be looking into buying by next Christmas. Things are on their way. Also, my sister is getting married in April. She is also going to give birth again in late July. Maybe the 29th? Hmmm. Then this summer Holly, Gavin and I are going to NY on vacation. I can’t wait. Lake George, here we come. I so look forward to Lake George. We need to set a date for that so we can let people know when the party will start.

I don’t know if this is as long as I was thinking, but I think it’s a pretty good post. I think. Whatever.

Happy Anniversary!

Thursday was our 3rd wedding anniversary. We couldn’t really decide on what to do for it. We finally decided that after Holly got home from work that we would head over to Ala Moana and do whatever. We were starving by the time we got there, so we headed to the new Macaroni Grill in the mall. It was very nice. We enjoyed a super good supper while being reminiscent. Holly was very pretty in a cowel neck shirt. She was so beautiful to look at. And she was wearing a wonderful pair of jeans. Wink, wink. After dinner we roamed the mall. Mostly looking for something to buy Gavin. Poor thing hardly saw his mom all day. Finally we found a Thomas book and another cute little book and headed home. It was 9:15 by the time we got home. Gavin was of course waiting for us (mom). We all brushed our teeth and hopped into bed for a good nights sleep.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Holly came home a wee bit early so we could take Gavin to get his TB test for entrance to preschool. Gavin was so good. He didn’t fuss or anything. They stuck him with a wee needle and he didn’t seem to feel a thing. We then proceeded to the nearest Thai food place, only to discover that this place was closed from 2-5. So I then dragged Holly to Kailua to the next nearest Thai food place. We ordered a good amount of food and drove it home for all to enjoy. We stuffed ourselves good. Probably too good. We then lounged around for a bit until it was time for Gavin to take his bath. The day ended shortly after. Gavin and Holly zonked out. I followed very soon after. Overall, we ate Thai food, chocolate and played with balloons. It was a nice relaxing day.

Friday night.

This should be a very exciting Friday night. Holly and Mary get to go to the first opera of the season. As per tradition they will head out early for dinner before heading to the opera. Holly bought a beautiful red dress to wear for the occasion. I will be taking pictures before they leave. When they head out, Gavin and I will be meeting a fellow musician, picking up a few goodies, and going to Gabe’s house to rock out. Should be interesting.

My first week of being free from the theatre has been great. I love not having to go to work at 4pm. I love not getting done with work at 2am. I have got a lot done for Karatedepot and they are excited.

After reading some Curious George books with Gavin, I finally took him to go see the movie. He really enjoyed it. It showed during his nap time, but he stayed awake the whole time. He laughed and giggled and all that good stuff. It was a cute movie. Although I didn’t really like the Drew Barrymore character. Eh, whatever. George was really cute.
