Ok, here is the largest lobster I have ever seen. It’s a little hard to see, but I guarantee you it was huge. All those little things underneath it are normal size lobsters. It had to be at least 1 1/2 feet long. Maybe two if you stretched it out. It’s claws were a good 7 inches long. It was huge.

I’m poor
I’m feelig very poor lately. I have no bed (borrowing an airmattress), no shelves or tables or chairs or much food. My dad gets married on the 24th this month and I was going to buy a plane ticket out there with the paycheck I received on Monday. What I did not plan on was them putting a hold on all but $100 of the check until the 23rd. That will not get me to my dads wedding on time. Or pay my bills. Or buy me a car or bed or anything else for that matter in the time that I need. Grrrr. So I have about $150 to last me until the 23rd. Dang. Being poor sucks. Plust I still haven’t heard much from FedEx about my claim. I faxed them the claim form and computer receipt verifying the value of my computer. Hopefully I will hear from them soon. So I got my atm card in the mail. Now I just need money to go with it. *Sigh* I might not make it to my dads wedding. 🙁
Flu & Freedom (updated)
This past Tuesday Gavin came down with the flu. His daycare called us and we picked him up. Poor kid was so sick. He stayed home with me for the rest of the week. On Friday Holly left for a long planned trip up to San Francisco so Gavin stayed with me for the weekend. We took him to the doctor Friday morning and they said Gavin should improve over that day and the next. He improved a little on Friday, but didn’t fully become himself again until Saturday night. We ordered pizza with potato wedges for dinner. The carbs did him well. Now he is back to daycare and having a good time. This week I need to get a car and a bed. Hopefully I can do that. I’m kind of tired of sleeping on this air mattress. And as for the car, well, we both need our freedom.
Bakersfield night life
I’ve been in pretty good spirits lately. I have everything all set up to move in to my new apartment on Thurs. All I have to do is show up Thurs morning and sign the lease. They will hand me the keys and I’ll be off. Gavin is only going to day care for half day on Thurs and not at all on Fri. So Gavin and I will be hanging out doing moving in stuff. Probably go shopping for some foods and other small household items that I don’t have like a door mat and a lamp and stuff like that. On Suday we are taking a drive down to visit Holly’s friend and visiting the nearby Ikea while we are there. I figured I’ll be pretty broke at that point, but it would be fun to look. Tonight was Holly’s long night at work so Gavin and I spent the evening playing games and tickeling and making pancakes loaded with chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, chocolate kisses and bananas. Fry up an egg to go with them, top them with syrup and butter, and you have yourself one mighty dinner. Gavin wore the little red apron and scooped out the flour. He cracked and added the egg all by himself. Then he used the magical wisk to mix it all up. He did a great job. The pancakes were delicious.
Tomorrow I venture out to explore Bakersfield nightlife. There is an open mic night at a place called Fishlips. We’ll see how that goes. I don’t know if I will perform or not. Maybe I’ll bring my guitar just in case. But basically I want to scope it out and see what it’s like. Maybe I can strike up some conversation and make a friend or two. That would be good. I’ve met a few people here in the village, but have yet to go out with any of them. I’m a wee bit of a chicken, but I just have to get over it and go out. So tomorrow will be my first night out. I look forward to it.
