Well, the new year has begun. I I’m lookin forward to 2007. It will truely be a new year for me. We kicked it off at Aloha Tower Marketplace with an awesome fireworks show and $3 Bud Light draught. I met Mary, Holly and Gavin at the marketplace at around 10pm. Chis, Beth and Reed also were there. Beth and Reed manned the tables and chairs while watching the boys. Mary, Holly and I took turns going to the bar to get drinks. Mary and I mostly went back and forth between the bar and our table, while Holly experimented with being single and chatted with guys and (oops) gave out her number. We all had a good time. It was charming actually. Gavin and Chris stood in line and received free balloons shaped like a flower and, well, not sure what the other one was. It looked like a smiley balloon on top of a cinnamon twist stick. They enjoyed the balloons tremendously though. The fireworks show was 10 minutes long and really awesome. They were set off from a barge just out in the bay a bit and we stood on the second floor of Aloha Tower. With Gavin on my shoulders and Holly in the bathroom, we counted down; 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Happy New Years! And the fireworks started. Gavin oohed and aaahed and laughed and had a great time. He stayed up all the way until he got into his carseat for the ride home. But before doing so, we sat on the stone wall in the parking lot and lit a box of sparklers for fun. And it was.

New Years Day was very good and relaxed. Holly started the day first at 5:30am. Then Gavin at around 7:30 or so. Then me at around 8. Then finally Mary around 9. We had buscuits and gravy for breakfast. We sat around and played and talked and cleaned and then went to watch a movie. For dinner, Chris, Beth and Reed came over and we had Ribs, Hoppin’ John, corn, and Okra. I was so full. The food was absolutely awesome. For desert we had Pecan pie and peach cobbler with lots of whipped cream. It was a very good day. We all had genuine smiles on our faces.

And that is just the start of 2007. Bye 2006. I’m glad to be rid of you. Hello 2007.

Well, Holly got another job offer from a library in California. She likes this one better than the one in Santa Clarita. Holly said she was going to call them back today. Maybe to accept the job. So one way or another, it looks like we’ll be moving to CA in the near future. Kind of exciting. What a way to start the new year. With moving. Sure beats how we spent half of 2006. But wow. How exciting is this?

This weekend was a busy one. On Friday we went out for our traditional Thai food dinner on the night before Gavin’s birthday. Then afterwards, we took Gavin to see the Nutcracker at the Hawaii ballet. On the night before Gavin was born as we sat around the house and was figuring out dinner, Holly had a sudden craving for Thai food. Mary ran out to the nearest Thai food place where she ordered a ton of food. As she was picking it up, she told the lady at the counter that her daughter was wanting Thai food and she was pregnant and ready to go any day now. The lady then told Mary that she would go into labor that night. And she did. Mary got home and we had a wonderful dinner. Holly’s water broke that night and we drove to the hospital and Gavin was born the very next morning. Now he is four years old. He is getting so big. I love that kid.

Birthday Boy

On Saturday for Gavin’s birthday, we headed out to the Ice Palace to go ice skating. Chris and Beth met us there. We spent the afternoon ice skating and having a wonderful time. Gavin and Chris skated around with their walkers and a grown up to keep them stable. Holly, Mary and I took turns taking loops around the rink. Holly wore her new jacket and was extremely cute. Every one dressed up all cozy like. Outside, it was 80Ëš. Inside it was 50Ëš. Wierd. After ice skating, we all went home for cake and presents. Gavin ended up with quite a stack of gifts which he was happy to rip open. And Chris was willing to help. He thoroughly enjoyed all his gifts. He loves the Hess truck and of course his “Cars” toys. I read him his dinosour book about 3 times in a row that day. He had a good day. His cake was an angel food cake filled with chocolate mousse and topped with whipped cream and a “Mater” toy and a little “Lightning MacQueen” keychain. Oh how Gavin liked it. I had a good time too. That night I slept over and spent the night with Gavin. What a good kid.

Today Holly and I went to the family court and finalized our divorce. The judge gave her stamp of approval and we will get the final paperwork in the mail. It took all of 2 minutes. So that’s it. We are divorced. 27 years old. Almost 4 years of marriage.

Well, NY has been pretty good so far despite the sniffles and cough that it has given me. It is scurrently 25Ëš outside. Burr. I found myself lacking in any internet for 2 days as I stayed with my mom. And there is no Starbucks around for miles to get free internet while I suck down a eggnog latte. Sigh. So now I am back in the office at Karatedepot. Later I will be heading to see my grandparents. Time is suddenly getting shorter here. I leave in only a week. I still have to see my grandparents, hang out more with Jean, get to the high school to see one of my old teachers, decorate my dads tree, have a family dinner at my mom’s house, and have dinner and visit with Lorenz’s parents. All while trying not to miss any work time. Which wouldn’t be that difficult if there was any form of internet at my moms house. She has dial-up, but this laptop is so modern (lol) that it doesn’t even have a internal modem. It only has a LAN connection and wireless capabilities. Oh well. The trip has been fun though. I spent Sunday with Shawn in NYC. We went to Times Square and Rockefeller Center to see the ginormous tree and Spongebob. Well, we didn’t really go to see Spongebob, but it was a plus.

On Friday, Lorenz and I went to see the Tenacious D concert. A couple of his friends bought tickets too so after the concert, we hung out with them for a short bit. I took some killer photos of the concert, but they are on my camera which I don’t have the chord to, so I will have to wait to post any. I also have some really crappy video that I probably won’t post. Oh well.

Hopefully either today or Saturday, Jean will be coming up to hang out with me a bit. I really wanted to spend some time with her. On Thursday, my mom is taking half day off so we can do stuffs. Who knows what we’ll be doing.

This trip has gone suprisingly fast. But in a way, I can’t wait to get back. For one, it is not 25Ëš in Hawaii. Second, I miss my son and I miss Holly. Holly has been given the opportunity to go to California for a few days. She has been called back by a library in CA who wants a 3rd, in-person interview. She will be flying out there probably around the second week in January. Or if they are not available then or just want to push it up, she might fly out there in two weeks. Either way she is flying out there. And if she likes it there and they offer good pay and benefits, we just might move there. How exciting and scary.

Well, I have spent enough time at work on my blog. Time to do stuff.
