Sex and Yoga

Holly and I checked out our local 24 Hour Fitness. As a result we received a 10 day trial membership. So naturally we took advantage of this and tried out their free Yoga classes. After our first class on Tuesday, we were relaxed and waiting for the soreness to set in. The following day when we thought it would kick in, it didn’t. A little disappointing. But then as we went to bed, I noticed a different kind of soreness. Not a hurting. It wasn’t restricting. It was just a pleasant kind of tension that made me feel good about our first class. So on Thursday we went out to our second class. It was a little more intense than our first class. A different instructor than the first class and a different approach. But it was very enjoyable. Maybe even more so than the first class because I felt more comfortable. We had better mats than the first time, but we should definitely get our own if we continue. So today, I can feel my body parts. There were poses and positions that stretched muscles that I didn’t realize I had. At least not for the past 8 years or so. I’m thinking that I would like to continue with this. I am enjoying it and it is healthy and will give us access to other free classes, a gym and a jacuzzi. So where could we go wrong? Anyway, I am enjoying the exercise and physical activities. Running is good, but it doesn’t strain my upper body or push the limits of the flexibility of my muscles.

As I went through my morning routine of checking email, the news, and updated blogs, I came across an article about how the WB has censored a pilot of a new show called The Bedford Diaries”. The reason for doing so apparently is because the network is afraid of being fined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), who are apparently cracking down on what it considers indecency on television. At the end of the article it commented that the WB is airing the unedited version of the pilot on their website. So I watched it. It is an interesting show containing whose main premise is a sex seminar that requires it’s students to keep a video diary of their past and present sexual behaviors. The items that were censored was a 1 sec clip of two woman kissing, and a 1 second clip of a woman unzipping her pants to masturbate. But later in the show, they show a nude model sitting on a bench only covered by her own body. There are other shows that have blood and violence. There are comedy tv shows that deal with sex and gays. But they are not being all that censored. I find it odd.

Surprise

I chatted with my mom yesterday. Apparently she was chatting with my brother and his wife and decided that they were all going to chip in to buy me a ticket to Sues wedding. Holly and I had planned on going to NY in August to be there to see Sues baby, therefore, not being able to go to the wedding. But they thought that it was important that be there so they bought me a ticket. I am so excited that I get to go to her wedding. I really wanted to be there. I still feel bad that she couldn’t be at my wedding and I know she would feel the same way in a few years if I couldn’t go to hers. So there you have it. A surprise for me and Sue. I will be in NY on April 8th for my sisters wedding.

Stressful week at an end

This past week or two has been so stressful. I had a project for work due today that I have not been able to work out. I had the idea, but I couldn’t do the art at all. I went to VJ’s on Monday night. There was a small crowd when we got there, but the place filled up quickly. Many people signed up for there turn at the mic. When it was my turn I played an STP song and an Everclear song. STP I did well. I should have done it second though, cause Everclear I totally bombed. Oh well. On the way home I got to thinking about how I was totally going blank with that ad, and how I bombed that song. It was a bit depressing artistically. The following day I spent frantically trying to put together an ad. It was the day before it was due and I still had nothing to show. Fortunately I have a very talented wife who helped me out. Then when she helped with the part I was stuck on, I whipped up some color, a background, some text and whua la, I have an ad. So today, I emailed the ad to my boss, who gave it the ok. So then I called Blackbelt Magazine to let them know I had the ad. They told me that the deadline was on Friday. (Ahhhhhhh) But if I emailed it to her in the next 20 minutes, she could get it to the press. So I did. Now my 3rd add will be printed on April 25th 2006. Phew. So stressful. Now all I have to do is come up with 2 full page flyers and a 15 minute video in 10 days. *sigh*. Oh well. the fun never stops. I feel much better though.

The rain subsided the other day for a bit. Seeing as how it has been raining for weeks now, everyone, including us, had to go out. We took Gavin to a nearby park to play. It was a nice time out. We played for about an hour before deciding to go to Ba Le for dinner. Mmmmm. Yummy. So that was our outing. We took the camera too. So there are some new pictures on our photo album: http://www.unmatchingmarbles.com/album

Bron-Yr-Aur

Well, no one commented, but I’ll assume everyone was good so I’ll post some music. Here is Bron-Yr-Aur by Led Zeppelin played by me. If you like it, maybe I’ll just keep playing guitar.

Rambling Man

It has been raining here for way too long, only pausing here and there for an hour or so. It sucks. It makes me feel trapped. I have started going to Volcano Joe’s again. I know it is not Holly’s favorite thing, but she likes it well enough. It’s a night out. She doesn’t get enough of that. The rain has also put a hold on running. Holly has not run that much as far as I know, and I have run even less than that. I want it to stop raining. I have also started a more steady routine of playing music on Friday nights. I take Gavin with me so that Holly and her mom have time together. Mostly for her moms sake than for hers. It gives them a chance to talk story and drink tea. It also gives Gavin a chance to play with other kids. I am glad to be getting back into music more. It has renewed my spirits and inspired me to start writing music. It has also made me long for music school. But I must wait. I have been reading a bit more too. Holly brought me back a book from her library. She says its big with the kids, and I can see why. It’s a very interesting book called “The Golden Compass”. We have applied to a pre-school for Gavin. They wrote us back saying that they received his application, but the school is full and they will call us if there is opening. Otherwise, he has to wait until May or so. That is another 3 months away. A few weeks ago, Holly told me we must make an appointment for Gavin to go to the dentist. He has complained a few times that his teeth hurt and we can see some cavities. So I made the appointment. The downside is that when I called them, they said that Holly and I were due for check-ups too. So I made those appointments as well. Gavin and I had our appointments yesterday at 10am. They first did Gavin. He was very good about it all. They took x-rays of his teeth and mine. Then they checked his mouth all over with a little pointy thing and then brushed them with the electric toothbrush. Gavin got to hold on to “Mr. Thirsty”. Can you guess what that was? Meanwhile, in the room next to his, we listened to a boy not much older than Gavin dying. Or so it seemed. Gavin did not make a peep. Then as a reward he got a balloon and a bouncy ball. And what did I get for being good during my check-up? A 3:30 appointment to get 3 fillings, and two crowns. Sweet! There is nothing like a 3:30 – 6:00 dental marathon to get you ready for Scottish Country Dancing at O’Tooles. Oh well. At least I am poorer now. Wait. I mean, at least my jaw hurts. Damn. Wait, I mean at least I have to go in again in 2 weeks. Damn. Wait. At least I have teeth. Yeah. Something like that. Anyway. It’s about 10 am. Gavin has watched Thomas the Tank Engine. He has had some trail mix and a banana. I ate a bowl of cereal. I need to buy laundry detergent so I can do laundry. Gavin needs to eat a well balanced lunch and take a nap at noon. And it needs to be on time so he doesn’t stay up until 10 pm. I should probably empty the garbages and clean up a bit. If I had the car, I might even get an oil change. I’ll even do a few dishes today. I will not eat chocolate. Ahh yes. Thanks to a friend of mine having a birthday, I received a $50 gift certificate to Gordon Biersch that would have expired on March 16th. Needing to use it before it expired, we decided to go there for Fat Tuesday. It was grand. I had an awesome burger with garlic fries. Mary had half a Ahi sandwich. Holly had the other half. Gavin had jasmine rice and some fries. Mary and I also had a few beers. Oh, and we had fried artichoke hearts for an appetizer. All for the sum of $1.61. Sweet. And there was a big Mardi Gra party going on as well, so drummers, men with wigs and tights, girls in bead bikinis, ladies with crazy hats, and many others were parading around. It was loud and fun. When Gavin asked to go for a walk, Holly took him around to check things out. When they came back they were sporting a bag of meat balls (Malt Balls) and a green bead necklace. Naturally, I had to give Holly a sly look. She just smiled and winked. 😉 Ahh. Good times. Unfortunately, we all over ate. I suppose that is the point. But none-the-less, with not running cause of the stupid rain, not doing sit-ups or push-ups or any other exercise (I will blame this on the rain too), I feel like I’m slipping away into fatness. I said I FEEL like it. I just want to prevent it is all. Ok. Well this is long enough. Maybe if you are good and add comments, I might post some pictures or maybe even some music or something. Later.
