Life is Good.

I just thought I would post here and mention that my life is not as depressing and pointless as my blog. I went to see “Corpse Bride” with my family on Friday afternoon. Gavin sat through the whole movie and I might even say he enjoyed it. We all sat and ate popcorn, drank diet coke and watched the movie. And what a fine movie it was. Good ole’ Tim Burton. And there was an awesome trailer for “Harry Potter” on it. Also, on Wednesday, I drove Holly to class since Mary was sick. Mary stayed home and watched Gavin. After dropping Holly off at class (which in itself was very nice), I had 2 hours to kill before dance class started so, naturally, I went to Magoos. This is a bar right between UH and dance class and is within walking distance to both. So I parked at dance class and walked there for dinner and a beer. I tried their pizza which was very tasty and over-priced. Real good though. And to go with that pizza I ordered a Killians Irish Red for $4.25. Hmmmmm. Anyway, after finishing the beer, I still had 5 slices of pizza and 1 1/2 hours to kill, so I had another beer. This time I discovered that you can order a Bud Light for $1.00. Awesome. When I finished that beer, I still had 4 slices and an hour left to kill. I knew I couldn’t eat the rest of the pizza, so I got a to-go box and ordered another Bud Light. By the time I walked back to dance class at 6:50pm, I had had 4 beers and 4 slices of pizza. Dance class was very fun. Holly strolled in around 8:00 pm. She was a total hotty. I know what you are thinking, and NO, I didn’t think that because of the beer. When she walked in though, I so fell in love again. It was nice. I do have my motorcycle, though I can’t legally ride it on the street until my license plate comes in the mail. I have been having so much fun with it. I have now completed 3 days of my motorcycle safety course. Two of those were classroom sessions with lots of lecture and 1980’s videos. The 3rd day was 8 hours of riding in a parking lot at 5-15 MPH doing small turns, long turns, sharp turns, breaking, clutch, throttle, balance, weaving, and best of all not having to pee after drinking almost 2 gallons of water because we were sweating so damn much. It was awesome. On Monday night we went to Volcano Joes again for Open-Mic night. One of Holly’s classmates came with his wife. They are really cool and we clicked right away. I brought beer because I knew they were coming and by the end of the night it was decided that next week (tomorrow) he would get up with me and sing “Jack and Diane”. Another of Holly’s classmates is coming tomorrow because she wants to see Matt sing. It is going to be a great night. (At this point I would like to mention that anything that I type past this point is my second time typing it. Blogger timed out my session and I lost half of my post. After “recover post” I only had half of what I typed, so I hope I do not miss anything.) My car has foiled itself. No not soiled, foiled. It has gone so berserk that our keyless entry remote started working again. It has not done this even when we bought the car. So now we don’t have to worry about getting locked out. Although, just for safety measure, I leave the back seat down so we have access to the car from the trunk. Now if only the auto shop would call saying they received the part to fix our door lock. So like I said, Holly and I have been getting to spend more time together. We were getting so caught up with school, work, chores, Gavin, etc that we weren’t getting as much time together as we thought. Last night after getting out of my motorcycle class, I met Holly in town (after her class at UH) and we went to an RSCDS party together. I am sorry that Mary has been under the weather a bit, but it was really nice to hang out and have a beer and chit chat with friends all night. Hmm what else. Oh, “cookie Tuesdays”. Holly has been filling the house with the awesome aroma of melted chocolate and cookie dough cooking. Last week she made the most perfect fudge. Mmmm soooooo good. You should be sooo jealous. On the topic of cookies and fudge, I have been running more. Since I started to keep track of my weight and what I have been shoveling into my mouth, I have lost 10 lbs. That’s not to say that I am on a diet, but I just want to live healthy. I hope that one day I will have the time and $$ to join a gym and have a more routine workout. I have goals for myself and it happens that being healthy is one of them. I feel really good. I am happy. Things seem to be looking up for me/us. Life is good.

Problems? What problems?

Hmmm. Well, I had my first day of my motorcycle safety course. It was pretty good. Time went by fast and the teacher was good. On Saturday, we get to ride at Aloha Stadium (rain or shine). Unfortunately, there was a communication problem and as it turns out, they screwed up and told me the wrong dates. Now I have to squeeze into two other teachers classes to try to finish the course before I leave for NY. Otherwise, I will have to take the last day of classes after I get back from NY. The Jetta is still reaking havock. Grrr. It was pooring out today and in order to get into my car, I must open the trunk (to turn off the alarm), open the rear passanger side door, reach in and around to open the driver side door from the inside, then close the passanger door and the trunk and get in the car. Not a fun event when you are trying to do it in a flooding downpoor. I still haven’t heard back about when that door lock part will arrive. I hope it is quickly. And I haven’t heard about when my real license plate will be here. Grrr. I want to ride my motorcycle more. And my theatre is falling apart. It looks like hell and I don’t know where to begin fixing it. *Sigh*

Long, Productive and Costly

I don’t know how I managed it, but I don’t have to work a full shift again until Saturday. Not bad. I have to go in for a meeting on Tuesday and for inventory on Thursday night. Pretty cool. Although I could use the money. Oh well. Thursday is my first day of my motorcycle course. It is from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Crazy I tell you. I have a feeling that Thursday will be all lecture and videos. Then on Saturday is the second class from like 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. I think that day we will be doing a lot of riding. Awesome. My car is still locked up so I have illegally been riding my motorcycle to work. Illegal because I am not supposed to ride after dark until I get my license. Also illegal, because my temporary license plate fell off and my real one has not come in the mail. We’ll see how that goes. Tomorrow, I have a lot to do. I need to get work done for Karatedepot. I need to call Honolulu Disposal company about our dumpster at the theatre. I need to call a locksmith and pay him $45 to open our car again (I was going to do that today, but because it is Sunday will cost $80-$90). If there is time, I need to drive down to the VW dealership in Honolulu and buy a new electronic key for our car. I need to go with Mary and Holly to class and take Gavin to the park or something until 7 when we will go to Volcano Joes for Open Mic night. It will be a long, productive, and costly day. But I am uber excited about my motorcycle. It is so fun. And I’m really getting the hang of it.

As an update, my car is still locked up in the the…

As an update, my car is still locked up in the theatre parking lot. Mary has had a go at it and she admits defeat. Which means that tomorrow I call the locksmith. On Monday I think I will drive down to the dealership and get a new keyless-entry key. At least then if the doors lock themselves I should be able to unlock them. Still no word on when the part for the lock will come in.

Next up: sex

Well, actually I changed my mind. Too complicated and too detailed. Maybe another time. If you really want to know (and I mean genuinely really want to know), then maybe I’ll post in my comments; or email or IM if I know you.

Anyway, life is otherwise ok. “Corpse Bride” comes out on Friday the 23rd and I want to see it. My vacation time for NY has finally been approved by the theatre. I will get paid. My motorcycle course starts on Thursday the 22nd. I can’t wait. Although, my license plate still hasn’t come in yet. I hope I don’t get pulled over. With my car being out of commission, I have been riding it more. Well, back to work.

Endless possibilities

Well, these past few days have not quite gone to plan. Of course there are some exceptions. One exception being my date with Holly on Tuesday night. We walked up to the theatre to watch “The Brothers Grimm”. We arrived early enough (for once) and decided to play a game of pool. That did wonders for us. It just felt so good. And the movie was ok too. What has not gone to plan was our car. This past Wednesday was our first night of dance class after our summer break. But unfortunately the door lock on our car broke and since Holly and Mary were in class, and I had Gavin, there was no way for me to get to the class. Instead, I stayed home and waited for a locksmith to come by and charge me $45 to pry my car open. While waiting, I called a VW place about fixing the problem. I got an appointment for the very next morning at 9 am. Wow, that was quick. So the next morning (Holly and Mary again out to UH early in the morning), Gavin and I headed out to Honolulu to get the car looked at. I dropped it off and they shuttled us over to Ala Moana mall so we could roam around. “Call us back at noon” they said. So 3 hours later I called them. Here is what they told me; “We have to order the part for your car from the mainland and it will cost $113. The labor for today costs $42. You also need two new front tires ($80) in order to pass safety inspection which is coming due. You also need to replace the timing belt on your car because it is 5000 miles overdue ($501). If you would like to purchase a new key for your car we can do that today for $125, but then you will still have to go to the VW dealership to get it programmed (for a fee). There is an oil leak from your engine that you can get covered by your warranty if you go have it done at the dealership where you bought your car. Would you like us to pick you up from the mall now?”

So we were picked up from the mall and shuttled back to the shop where we were then informed that the part they need to order will be here in about 1 1/2 – 2 weeks and when it arrives it will cost another $170 for them to install it. I was also informed that they just locked up my car and can’t get into it, so we will have to wait until they can get it open again before we can leave.

It now being 1 pm. Gavin and I are on the highway heading home. Of course Gavin is tired from all this and falls asleep for the entire ride back. As we arrive in the driveway, I shut down the car and open the door. Upon doing so, the car went nuts and locked itself (door still open) and set off the alarm. I tried to start the car and it wouldn’t start with the alarm on. I tried closing the door (rolling the window down), playing with the door locks and the alarm still wouldn’t shut off. So in a panic I jumped out of the car and popped the trunk which in turn shut off the alarm. In much relief, I peeked in the window to see that Gavin was still asleep. At the same time I realized that I had also closed the car door behind me. Damn. With the window still open and Gavin still asleep, I ran to get a coat hanger and proceeded to open the car by hooking the inside door handle and opening the door. All was now ok. I made sure that the window was cracked and the locks were open and took Gavin up for the rest of his nap.

Two hours later Gavin wakes up just in time for me to head to work where Holly and Mary will be picking up Gavin. But before heading to work, I must stop at Koolau to pick up some food items. Can you see where this is headed? Cause at the time, I couldn’t. When I parked, I opened the windows and unlocked the car and even hung a metal hanger on the window, just in case. I went in, grabbed a bunch of food and wheeled it out to the car, only to discover that VW Jettas can lock themselves and roll up its own windows. Damn again. Only this time, there is no way in without paying another $45. Fortunately, my good buddy Nate was right there and handed me the keys to his car. It got me to work almost on time, but I didn’t have a car seat for Gavin and my VW Jetta is still sitting in the theatre parking lot. Damn yet again.

Which brings me to two more unexpected items. First being that having a short conversation with my grandmother revealed that there was a check for me in the mail. As it turns out, it was for more than I thought. The second being that a short conversation with my boss (theatre) revealed that I will be getting a $.50 raise and a $1000 bonus (before taxes). So funny how things work out. I receive a bunch of money and fate takes it away instantly. I just wasn’t meant to have money.

It is now 9:08 pm and I am not having a good day. I have to stay late tonight because of inventory and a new movie. Then I must return Nate’s car. What to do, I have no idea. But I foresee a motorcycle driving test in the near future. Tomorrow I plan on practicing in the theatre parking lot, which should be empty except for one green car until about 11:30 am.

On the plus side, I got to spend a lot of quality time with Gavin. Because of him, I now know of a really good bakery at the mall. Also, I got to do some window shopping and got some ideas for Christmas presents. And when all is said and done, my car will be fixed of many problems.

So rewinding now back to my date. I think that doing more interactive things, such as playing pool, will remind us a bit of who we are and also who each other are. It is too easy to forget little things about each other. What step is that anyway? It was a really nice night. We were so comfortable with each other and clicked really well. We were on the same level. We were happy. And when it came to the bedroom, it went as well as the rest of the night. Maybe even better. That is why my going to NY in October and Holly going to the Big Island in November will be good. We will get more reminders of who we are as individuals. And by that time, I will have my motorcycle license, and I will be able to ride her around. From there, the possibilities are endless.
