Another Hair Cut

As we were needing to get out of the house a few nights ago, me,
Holly and Gavin headed out to the mall. We were looking for a present
for Mary’s birthday which is coming up soon. When we get there Holly
says to me, “So if you want, while I’m looking for my mom’s present,
I’ll give you $20 and you can go get a haircut or something.” So
naturally, I ask her, “What? Are you trying to get rid of me? You
want me to get a haircut?” lol. The previous day, I had gone out to
help someone do some landscaping and yard cleaning and what not. It
was super hot out and my poofy hair was immensly annoying.

So with Holly’s suggestion, we found the cheapest hair salon and went
in to get my hair cut off. She seemed to know what she was talking
about, but when she asked me if it was ok, I found myself saying,
“just a bit shorter”. Now here I am with short hair again.

Ahhh, that feels good.

The Water Park

Yesterday was Chris’s birthday. Chris is technically Holly’s cousin. He just turned 4 years old, so we just call him Gavin’s cousin. Anyway. For his birthday Beth wanted to take Chris to the water park. She invited us all to go. Holly could not go because she had to work, and I almost didn’t go because of work. But I played hookie and went to the park. It was loads of fun. Gavin and Chris spent most of the time in the kids area where the water never exceeded 4 feet and was as low as 1 foot. There were actually two kids pools. One was for little little kids and had slides and fountains and all kinds of stuff in only 2 feet of water. They loved it. We let them roam around and do whatever they wanted. They got to go down slides and splash and play with other kids or whatever they wanted. They had so much fun. We also took them to the little big kids area which had bigger slides and deeper water. We took them down the pink slide and the big green slide. There were also real small slides just to get from one area to the next that Gavin loved. It was great for the kids. And us adults took turns going on the grown up rides like the Lava Flow. What fun it was. We even took the kids to the wave pool. Oh what fun. We arrived there at around 10:00 right when they opened and left at 4 right when they closed. 5 hours of watery goodness. Check out some of our pictures of the fun.

Another Volcano Joe’s

On Monday, Holly, Gavin and I went to Volcano Joe’s again. I actually wasn’t going to so I can work, but Mary started her class that day and went off without her purse. So we ended up going just so we can give Mary her purse. I am so glad Mary forgot her purse, because this was a really great Volcano Joe’s night. Holly and I took turns romping with Gavin outside on the grass for a bit. When they finally called me up, I was outside with Gavin, so I rushed in to set up my gear. I had decided ahead of time that I was going to make this an all “Naked Mike” night. So when I got up, I announced that I was going to play original songs from a band formerly known as “‘Licious Beer”, now changed to “Naked Mike”. Apparently using the words “naked” and “beer” in the same sentence is a good way to get a crowds attention. Following the announcement, I played a few songs. When I was done people told me how they loved the songs and what not. Then I realized after one guy told me, “Yeah! Right on. Way to Rock.” that I was really the only one at Volcano Joe’s that plays rock music. Then a guy approached me and asked me how much it would cost (“for a guitar like that” is what I thought he was going to say) to get me a shirt like that. It just so happened (not by coincidence) that I was wearing a “Naked Mike” t-shirt. I paused for a second and said “$15. But I only have them in black and XL”. He whipped out $20 and told me to keep the change. So next week I will bring him a “Naked Mike” shirt. Talk about making my day. Unbelievable.

So with that said, I want it to be know that things are awesome. I have absolutely been happy with everything. I have had more time with my family. We have been going to the beach, the mall, b-day parties, seeing movies, hanging out at home, doing fun things like painting shelves for the kitchen, playing choo-choo, and all kinds of stuff. It’s great. Our vacation to NY and Lake George is coming up in August and I just can’t wait for it. A whole two week vacation. I will get to see my family and friends and spend time at Lake George and get to meet a new member our the family. It will be so great.

Mother’s Day – success or failure?

The day started off (for me) at around 8:30 am. Unfortunately Holly’s day started at 5 am. She cleaned the kitchen and made cinnamon rolls and mini blueberry muffins. So right off the bat, I’m behind. When the grown up arrived with egg beaters, I made some scrambles eggs and canadian bacon for breakfast. After breakfast, I had wanted to take Holly out to the mall and buy her stuff. Clothes, bathing suit, toys, whatever she wanted. Little did I know that Mother-in-Law wanted to go to boyfriends house and paint. Usually this would not have anything to do with us, but she didn’t say anything and then when we were about to walk out the door, we get dragged back it and blamed for not getting the cats it. They were missing and no where to be found. And it was our fault. So now she guilt trips and what not until she makes it clear that she doesn’t want us to go out so we can wait for the cats and she can go paint. Arg. So Holly and Gavin and I closed up our car and went back inside. When all was settled, Mother-in-Law’s boyfriend mentioned that they can wait for the cats. Her paints are all set up and she can go over and paint anytime. So they stayed and we went. I drove over to the mall under a mask of frustration with someone. I shook it off before we got to the mall. I told Holly that she could buy whatever she wanted. If she wanted an expensive bathing suit or some pants or a nice shirt or whatever, that I would get it for her. Although, she had to buy a bathing suit. Other wise, she would not be able to swim at the beach after the mall. She ended up picking a beautiful bikini bathing suit which she wore and looked great in. We were at the beach for 3 hours or so. Holly spent most of the time sunbathing while I played in the water with Gavin. And when we were ready to head home, Holly was a shade darker. Gavin slept most of the way home. Which was good, because that was his only nap of the day. When we got home, we had just enough time to shower and get cleaned up before getting picked up to go to Buzz’s Steakhouse for dinner. I made reservations a few weeks ago. As you can imagine, there was a beautiful menu of Ribs, Prime Rib, Ahi, Crab, and various other fishes and steaks. I of course ordered a prime rib. Holly ordered a stuffed Ahi entree. Gavin ate some white rice and ahi. The salad bar was super yummy. It was a wonderful, delicious dinner. Upon arriving home from dinner at 8 pm, Holly took Gavin up for bed. Gavin did not go to bed until 10pm. And although Holly was extremely tired and sick, neither did she. Meanwhile, I was downstairs trying to do a little work since a few hours would be taken from me later. So that was our day. Holly didn’t get breakfast made for her, flowers given to her, dishes washed for her, or laundry done for her. She did get to go shopping and to the beach and taken out for a beautiful dinner. And was told repeatedly how much I loved her and how beautiful and amazing she was. So how successful was mother’s day? I’m not sure, but I’d like to think that it was a good one.

Getting buff

Our mission to get buff has been slowed down. We were all gung ho about it and was going to yoga 4 days a week and working out after two of the 4 yoga sessions. As it turns out all that working out can hurt a person. Go figure. Poor Holly has been saying that her shoulder has been hurting her. It got to the point where she couldn’t do anything with it. She called me upstairs yesterday to ask me to remove her shirt for her. Although she asked me that because she physically couldn’t do it, I still found it a bit erotic. lol. Anywho. She has been to see the doctor and they gave her instructions to see a physical therapist for 4 days a week for 3 to 4 weeks. That is something that Holly doesn’t really want to do since that would mean taking time off work and dealing with a screwed up insurance problem. The poor girl couldn’t do anything. She was up half the night two nights ago because just the act of having an arm was hurting her. She is now jumping with excitement for being able to do things like close the car door from the inside, or being able to push the up-window button to roll up the window. Today she felt able to drive to work and succeeded. She told me it was painful, but was able to lift her arm a bit. I hope that is a sign of it improving and not just having a good moment. The poor thing.
